(Shhhh!! She's thinking about "issues.")

Welcome, beloved Aunties and Uncles, to the "Letters" page!  I'm sure Eleanor would love to read about your thoughts and impressions of her while she's growing up!  If you'd like to post one up, just e-mail your letter to: eleanor@lee-family.com and it'll be posted on this page below!  I'll be writing letters to her too, to recount her daily activities and other interesting stuff.  These are in the From Mommy section. (DUH.....) Warning, my letters will probably be really BORING to you all and not make much sense...heh heh.

Hi Eleanor and Madeleine,

I just met you for the first time last week on Thursday, June 3, 2004 and I wanted to send you a few thoughts about our meeting.  First off, I wanted to let you know that you two are the cutest, sweetest kids I’ve ever met.  You two were VERY well-behaved and I would’ve taken you home with me right away, if I could!  Eleanor, you told me that your favorite color was pink when I gave you the pink Beanie Baby bear (and you were dressed in pink from head to toe!).  Madeleine, you were so cute when you wrapped up your blue Beanie Baby bear in your sweater and rocked it like a baby.  The sweetest moment was when the two of you gave me a hug and a kiss at the end of the night – your mom and dad took a picture of it so I can remember it forever!  :o)

The more important reason I wanted to write you this letter is to let you know how lucky you are to have such an awesome mom.  I’ve known your mom since we were about 4 years old (Eleanor’s age now).  I remember walking into the Pre-school classroom at Pinecrest in Woodland Hills on my first day.  I was very scared.  The teacher was reading a book to the class and all the kids were sitting in a circle around her.  Then, I saw your mommy sitting near the back of the circle.  I thought, “That girl looks nice.  I’ll go sit next to her.”  We were friends from that point on.  I remember playing games on the playground with the boys.  The boys would chase us and try to kiss us.  We would pretend like we didn’t want to be captured!  ;o)

Your mom and I went to school together from Pre-school through 8th grade.  We even carpooled together in Jr. High School.  Your grandma would come pick us up everyday from school and I’d hang out with your mom at your grandma and grandpa’s house until my parents could come pick me up.  I remember playing pool in the back “sunroom” portion of their home.  I remember your mom introduced me to the soap opera, “Days of Our Lives” in Jr. High.  We would watch that on days that school would get out early.  I also have some random memories of your mom and uncle eating “Flintstones” vitamins and your mom telling me she liked alfa-alfa sprouts (which were so gross when we were in elementary school!).  Your grandparents, mom and Uncle Jonathan were always the kindest people.  You are very lucky to have such a great family.

I wish there was a way to describe how wonderful your mom is.  I’m sure you already know how great she is (especially when reading the letters she wrote to you), but I wanted you to know that she’s made an impact on other people in her life, too.  I hadn’t talked to or seen your mom in about 14 years, but I’ve thought about her every January 23rd.  I’m glad I searched for her on Friendster.com and was able to find her.  My hope is that by the time you’re old enough to read this yourself, you will know me well.  Now that I’ve found your mom again, I want to make sure it’s not another 14 years before we see each other again.

I’ll see you guys soon!

Sharon (Shimizu) Rubino

Subject: Thinking of You

Hi El,

Gu Gu here.  Was just thinking about you.  It is so amazing to watch you grow up.  You’re talking so much.  Just yesterday you got on the phone and told me, “Mommy cooking.”  “Daddy sitting on the couch, using computer.”  “YeYe watch TV” .

It was so much fun singing and dancing with you and your “I can Dance” video.  You’re quite a dancer and were right on cue with all the moves.  I think watching Baby Mozart over and over again those first few months really instilled a love of music in you.  Is Madeleine watching Baby Mozart, too?

I’m so proud to hear that you’ve been using the potty yourself!  You’ve picked up on so many other things so quickly, I’m sure this’ll be a cinch for you.  And then you can say good-bye to diapers and cold Wet Wipes!

Well, bedtime for me.  See you in a few weeks.  I miss you!   --Gu Gu

Well here's a not-so-recent photo of your Uncle Ahau who only appears to

be older than you - he's actually still arriving in instalments from the

Andromeda galaxy, hee hee :-)
